Texas Students Choose Their Favorite

Lucy Nolan’s book Down Girl and Sit: On the Road is the winner of the 2007-2008 Texas Bluebonnet Award with 19,248 votes. The Ghost’s Grave by Kehert with 15,830 votes and Bauer’s The Blue Ghost with 15,738 were neck and neck for second and third place. The number of students who “got out the vote” this year was 151,107!.

Third through sixth graders in Bishop CISD participate in this program each year. This year the most popular book at Bishop Primary was The Blue Ghost. Petronila students chose The Ghost's Grave as their favorite as did Bishop Elementary School.

 Students in Mrs. Linda Jones's fifth grade class at Bishop Elementary created  board games based on one of their favorite books from the Bluebonnet list for 2008. All the students enjoyed playing these games after they voted last week.
