8th Grade - Bishop VS Aransas Pass

The 8th grade football team traveled to Aransas Pass for the first game of the season. The guys looked very good despite losing 18-8. We took some positive things from the game and will be able to make adjustments that should allow us to be a much better team. The defense made a good stand at the end of the first half to keep the game tied at 8. A few costly miscues in the second half allowed AP to take the lead and our guys were just unable to put the ball in the end-zone. We are looking forward to the 8th grade team to do really well this season, beginning with Taft on Thursday at 6:15 here at Bishop's own, Ed Gorny Stadium.
Thanks for your support,

7th Grade - Bishop VS Aransas Pass

The 7th graders got started with a scrimmage  in Aransas Pass. We played against possibly the biggest 7th grader in South Texas. He was very intimidating to our young boys. We have a lot to improve on and will need to do it fast, because we play Taft at home this coming Thursday. This was many of our kids first football game. We know that we will get better by the time district games start. Please come out and support us.

8th Grade - Bishop VS Hebbronville

Last night the 8th grade football team, depleted of players (only having 12 suited up) took on the Longhorns from Hebbronville and came up on the low end of the scoreboard 30-0. Don't let the score fool you though, because these young men stepped up and played the entire game without replacements and dog tired.  They never gave up and on the bright side even had a couple of good drives during the second half but just could not put them in the end zone.  As coaches we want to win just as much as the next person, but for this game we could not have been prouder of the boys if we had won by 100 points.  All we asked of the guys was to give it their best and show they were in shape enough to play an entire game without rest.  They did that and it shows that no matter how down the situation is our players continued with the Badger Pride that will be seen as they move into high school.  Way to go guys.

The boys will be playing Premont so be ready for a victory.

Basketball

8th Grade - Bishop VS Riviera
The 8th grade basketball team started their season last night in Riviera.  The boys won 31-19.  The Badgers showed some rust battling to a 10-8 halftime lead. We took control with a strong third quarter, outscoring them 13-1 in the quarter.

Alan Scott led all scorers w/ 11 points.  Hunter Smith and Dylan Horner were strong defensively, handling the ball and scoring.  We got contributions from all the players,  Adam Alvarado did an excellent job executing our ¾ press, which helped lead to easy baskets.  We play our 1st home game of the season Monday against Banquete. Hope to see you all come out and support, please announce to the boys that I will be unable to practice today, but, want all 8th graders to meet right after school ,Monday, so we can go over a few things before Monday night’s game.
