Coach Wolf's Notes

10/08/07 Last week the Junior
Varsity Badgers played Banquete to a tie 6-6. The Badgers moved the ball on
Banquete but was unable to score more than one touchdown. Penalties and an
errant lateral recovered by Banquete help stop the Badgers and helped Banquete
score their only touchdown with only minutes left in the game. Banquete has not
lost a game, but now they have a tied. Our Junior Varsity is improving every
game and are making great strides in becoming better players. Congratulations
to the JV Football Team.
Thanks for all your support!

On Friday, the Varsity Badgers
lost 6-28, turning the ball over three times to Banquete’s two, but the
difference in the game was that Banquete scored when we turned the ball over and
we did not. Missing our two starting receivers, our back up receivers played
well and stepped up and made some big plays, but it was not enough to over come
the mistakes. The Badgers are 1-1 in District and we are looking forward to the
open week to get some of our players healed up before we play Hebbronville on
October 19th.
Thanks for all your support!

10/19/07 Congratulations to the Junior Varsity on their win over Hebbronville last Thursday night. The final score was 14-0. The defense stepped up their efforts and are playing really well. The offense is driving the ball but are making a few mistakes toward the goal line. The Junior Varsity has really make great improvement since the start of the season. The Junior Varsity is now 2-0-1 in district and will be off this next week unless we find a game for Thursday as Premont does not have a junior varsity team. The next home game will be against Santa Rosa, November 1st at 6:00 pm.
The schedule of Thursday games for November 1st will be:
Seventh Grade vs. Ricardo at 5:00 pm
Junior Varsity vs. Santa Rosa at 6:00 pm
Eighth Grade vs. Ricardo at approximately 7:30 pm
In the Friday night game vs. Hebbronville, the Badgers took the lead into halftime 10-0. The Badgers controlled the ball the first half and caused Hebbronville to have to throw the ball. In the second half Hebbronville scored on their first possession and controlled the game the rest of the way allowing the Badgers only two possession the entire second half. The final score was 14-10. The Badgers played a great game and controlled the Hebbronville offense.
The Badgers will be at home next Friday against Premont at 7:30 pm. Come out and support the Badgers on their quest to make the playoffs. Thank you for your support. Also, thanks to Ms. Goldman’s and Mrs. Lee’s classes and the cheerleaders for the goodie bags.
11/12/07Congratulations to Sam Gonzales for finishing in 10th place at the State Cross Country Meet in Round Rock this weekend. Sam competed against approximately 110 other runners in Class 2A. This is the second year that Sam has competed and finished in the top 10 of class 2A. Sam was District Champion in District 32-2A and finished sixth at the 2A Regional Meet in San Antonio. Congratulations Sam!
11/12/07 The Badgers did not
play well Friday night against Freer and lost 10-0. We could not get anything
going on offense, but the defense played well. Hats off to our ten seniors.
They have worked hard to accomplish several individual goals which they had
made, although they fell short on the team goals. Throughout the year injuries
have haunted us like the plague. Just when we are getting back to full
strength another crop of injuries pop up. Several of the juniors and sophomores
had to step in and fill roles that are very important. They performed well and
we appreciate their effort.
Several of the junior varsity players, who ended up district champions, will be
stepping up to the varsity to help the 22 juniors and three sophomores who will
be returning next year. We are looking forward to working hard and improving
our strength and quickness in the off-season.
Thanks goes out to the parents, band, cheerleaders, student body, teachers,
administrators and community for their support of Badger Football this year.
