The mission of the Alternative Learning Center is to provide educational services to students assigned to In-school Suspension or the AEP classroom. We believe that all students can master the skills to function appropriately in the school community if given adequate instruction, sufficient time, and support. Our students at the ALC are expected to be responsible for making appropriate decisions and choices about academic achievement, interactions with others, and safety issues. When finished with our program a student will demonstrate mastery of skills needed to successfully return to the mainstream campus. The ALC staff will support educational
services to those students placed on our campus. The
students will have a safe and supportive environment, be
provided with counseling as needed, and be provided with
intensive instruction until such time as they can be
integrated into the regular educational program. Classes begin at
8:00am and end at 3:30pm. All students assigned to the
ALC should clear the campus immediately. Students assigned to the
AEP are not allowed on the school campus while in AEP. The student who is assigned to AEP will follow strict dress and behavior codes. Violations of either will result in suspension. Students who persistently violate these codes may be assigned to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice AEP, which is located in Corpus Christi.
